In addition to its reputation as a leader in signage, consulting, billboards, outdoor advertising, digital media, and traffic sign industries, ENG (Emirates Neon Group) is now tackling the publishing industry with the launch of two full-color, glossy magazines. Emirates Neon Group started out in the 1970s creating neon signs, but now, with the introduction of the men’s weekly IQ and a celebrity gossip publication called Insider, the company is now officially in the publishing industry. Both magazines are being produced and published in ENG’s office in the United Arab Emirates. One issue of IQ features British actor Daniel Craig on its cover, best known for playing the role of James Bond, and sets the tone for the magazine, which is aimed at professional men, with a mid-high level income who live in or are visiting the United Arab Emirates. The content of ENG’s IQ magazine, the first men’s weekly magazine in the region, will feature current affairs, sports, entertainment, technology and fashion. IQ will be distributed across the emirates, and have a circulation of 15,000. Mr. Alex Ritman, former editor of Charged magazine, will be the editor of IQ magazine. One Insider cover is adorned by actress Jennifer Aniston and has headlines stories about Aniston’s relationship with singer John Mayer, and pop superstar Madonna’s plans for adoption, as well as local happenings. The weekly Insider was made to compete with the celebrity gossip magazines already thriving in the industry. Insider will be geared toward women aged 20-45. Emirates Neon Group’s Insider will be distributed across the emirates and have a circulation of 20,000. Former associate publisher of OK! Middle East Graham Stacey was named the editor of Insider. Erin McCafferty, who has experience working for a celebrity gossip publication, is Insider’s deputy editor. Emirates Neon Group was founded in the United Arab Emirates in 1976 by Mr. Muhammed Hanif Merchant.
